Internet Download Manager (IDM) is a download accelerator for Windows PC computers that can increase your download speed up to five times. You can check the download speed of the files that are being actively downloading in the Internet Download Manager (IDM) by looking at the “Transfer Rate” column to see if the speed really meets the requirements.
SoftTechHelp teaches you how to increase the download speed of Internet Download Manager (IDM). Although it is possible for IDM to speed up downloads, you can further increase download speeds by increasing the number of available connections and disabling the speed limiter.
- Open Internet Download Manager (IDM). If you don’t have download IDM yet, download it from Internet Download Manager official website and install it. After install click Option icon at the top of the IDM window. Click the Connection tab. Click the Connection type/Speed then click the high speed option. Select high speed option High speed: High speed: Direct connection (Ethernet/Cable) / Wi-Fi / Mobile 4G / other
- Set the “Default max. conn. number” setting to 8. Click the “OK” button to close the configuration window and apply the settings.
2. Disabling the Speed Limiter
- Click the Download tab. Select Speed Limiter. Click Turn off to ensure that future downloads will maximize your connection’s speed.
Note: Close any other running applications that may be using your Internet connection, such as browsers with active downloads or programs that actively fetch data online. Use the Internet Download Manager (IDM) to download the file, or continue downloading in the queue, and then close the Internet browser again to notice the speed increase.
